Artist's Statement

I began writing at a very young age, and in middle school my clear visions of the stories I wrote prompted me to begin screenwriting. As my ideas of cast, set, art design, and the many visual aspects of filmmaking became more clarified, my interest in direction and production developed.

My ultimate goal as a storyteller is to create works that generate a sense of belonging in others. I want to inspire people to explore and connect to the world we live in, to reach out to one another, and to accept the subjective aspects of our world. I want the people who feel alone to know someone, somewhere understands, or at the very least, will not judge them.

As a developing artist I have interest in experimental, narrative, and documentary work, and hope to gain experience in all of these areas before choosing a niche. I would also like to experiment in combining these styles.

I love the many types of art and media that come together in order to create a moving picture, the aspects of design, acting, cinema and still photography, as well as the editing, musical accompaniment, and the business and technical side of it. I love the potential film always has to become mass media, that the stories I create always have the potential to reach vast audiences, and that through film, any message can be spread far more widely than through other mediums. I think each artist’s goal is to create works that are appreciated on a large scale, but creating something consequential to only a handful of individuals would be satisfying for me.

I look forward to following my progress through this blog, but more so I look forward to learning the techniques and methods that will help me express my views and create the pieces I have long desired to fully orchestrate.
